Kenya Protest: My Dress, My Choice!! Supporters Show Support For Woman Beaten By Men Over 'Indecent' Outfit

Nairobi women rep Rachel Shebesh has condemned the assault of a woman who was stripped by touts attached to the Embassava Sacco for what they said was indecent dressing.

"I strongly condemn violence against women in all its forms, whether it is domestic violence, rape, sexual harassment, torture and abuse of women . We must take tangible action to eliminate violence against women," Shebesh said in a statement sent from Copenhagen where she is attending the Beyond 2015 conference.

Shebesh said the government, the civil society and individual men and women have the responsibility to take action.
"When it comes to violence against women, there are no grounds for tolerance and no tolerable excuses. I hope that investigations will be carried out and the culprits charged for assault," she also said.
Earlier this week a video of the assault was uploaded online eliciting various reactions from the masses and prompting a protest set for Monday by a Facebook group known as Kilimani Mums.

The touts called the woman "Jezebel" for "tempting" them with her attire. She pleaded for mercy but they instead kicked in her private parts and ripped her clothes.
